This course demonstrates the power and variety of typography – from basic manipulation to artistic expression – across a range of media. Students learn the principles of typesetting text effectively for hypothetical and real world communications through the practices of selecting typefaces, point-sizes, leading, line-length, color, justification, layouts, kerning and tracking for print and digital formats. Students learned the craft in preparing type, as well as an understanding of form and context in language.
